I like Trey plenty. I am not going to bash you or Trey in this post.

For me it's Jerry and it's not very close. I listen to Trey when I want to hear up-tempo long-sustain soloing. Trey's ability to cover the full spectrum or range of emotion in his playing does not match Jerry's.

Again, I like both. But I find myself turning to Trey only when I am in a certain mood and Jerry for any mood.

GD>Phish
JGB>Trey Solo

Not to mention Garcia/Grisman, LOM and Reconstruction. When you take the full body of work it's hard to argue for Trey(as you mentioned).

Overall, though they spoke the same language, Jerry's dialect was more pleasing to my ear.

BTW, I think Tom Dowd has taken some credit for Cream's language of music.

No, the acronym language later adopted by deadhead tapers(due to size constraints on cassette labels).

SWLABR("She Walks Like A Bearded Rainbow")

these may be more recognizable here...

MOTM, SOTM, GDTRFB, SOTOTW, MAMU...

well you get the picture
